What a mirror is
A mirror is an alternative web address for the same service. The content, the account and the balance are identical; only the domain differs. Mirrors exist because domains sometimes have to change — payment provider requirements, technical outages, or blocks applied by individual networks. From a player's point of view only one question matters: is this address genuine.
Why this matters especially in Finland
Finland issues no licence to private online casinos and therefore keeps no register that would show which domain belongs to whom. Under the current plan a licensing system opens in 2027 and supervision moves from the National Police Board to a new licensing and supervision agency, at which point an official list of permitted operators will exist. Until then, checking an address is entirely the player's own job — and a search engine's first result proves nothing whatsoever.
Four checks
- Licence details in the footer. A genuine page names the issuing regulator and the permit number. Look that number up in the regulator's public register and see which domains it covers. If the address you have open is not among them, it is not a mirror.
- Log in before paying anything. On a genuine mirror an existing login works as it is. A page insisting you «create a new account for the mirror» is not a mirror.
- Encryption and spelling. Read the whole address rather than just the brand name: one swapped letter or an unusual suffix is the classic signature of an imitation.
- Ask through a channel you already trust. Request the mirror address from support you know is genuine — never the other way round.
What happens to the account
On a genuine mirror the account is the same account. Balance, transaction history, verification status, configured limits and any wagering in progress all persist, because there is one system behind both addresses. That gives a useful safety rule: if a «mirror» shows an empty balance or asks you to verify from scratch, do not upload documents — close the page and check the address. Practical precautions
The simplest protection is a bookmark. Save the correct address the first time and use it instead of a search engine, since the top of a results page can be a paid advertisement pointing somewhere else entirely. The second protection is the account's own strength: a unique password in a password manager plus two-step login make a stolen password useless. The third is patience — a mirror never requires you to hurry a payment, and when something is unclear the correct action is to wait and ask.
If you suspect an address is not genuine, do not enter credentials at all. Contact support through a channel you know is real; the options are on the support page. If you already logged in somewhere doubtful, change the password and review account activity immediately.
